Expect Miracles in Boston 2023
On November 2, 2023, Expect Miracles Foundation [EMF] proudly presented its Boston cocktail gala with a captivating twist – it was reborn as “Expect Miracles in Boston” at the modernly elegant InterContinental Boston. While the name and venue were new, the event retained its unwavering mission: to ignite hope within the cancer community.
More than 400 passionate individuals gathered, uniting for a night of profound connections with financial services industry peers and friends of EMF. Throughout the themed event Destination Hope, guests engaged in exhilarating silent and live auctions, spirited contests, and a heartwarming donation appeal, culminating in a triumphant achievement of setting a new live fundraising appeal record of over $60,000
Kicking off the night, Event Co-Chairs, Jane Mancini of BNY Mellon and Matt Goulet of Fidelity Investments, extended a warm welcome to guests and sponsors. Their support for a cause that touches countless lives resonated deeply. Matt Goulet, in a stirring moment, shared his personal inspiration behind his commitment to EMF – the remarkable journey of his father, who battled and triumphed over melanoma. Guests also heard EMF Executive Director Frank Heavey share the story of friend and EMF supporter Bob McKee, who is currently fighting cancer. Together, these reminders focused those present on the collective purpose of the night.
Appeal Raises Over $60,000
Whitney A. Heavey
Prior to the donation appeal, Whitney Heavey, the wife of EMF’s Executive Director, Frank Heavey, graced the stage to share her triumphant journey in the face of cancer thanks to the generosity of donors like supporters of EMF that funded the development of a critical immunotherapy which Whitney credits with saving her life.
The evening culminated when EMF had the distinct honor of presenting Pasi Jänne, MD, PhD from the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute with a check for $1 million to advance the life-saving cancer research at Dana-Farber’s Belfer Center for Applied Cancer Science. It was a touching moment that emphasized the incredible difference we can make when we come together as a community.
