FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR YOUNG ADULT CANCER SURVIVORS

About

Surviving and Moving Forward [SAMFund] grants serve as a financial bridge to help young adult survivors regain their financial footing after expensive cancer treatment and move forward towards their personal, professional and academic goals.

More than 2,500 grants totaling more than $4 million dollars have been awarded to young adults as they recover from the financial impact of cancer.

DETERMINE YOUR ELIGIBILITY

Applicants must meet the general and medical criteria to apply for a SAMFund grant.

General Criteria

You Must Meet ALL

  • U.S. Resident
  • Between 21-39 years of age at time of application
  • Not Tax Dependent
  • Did not receive a SAMFund grant in the previous grant cycle
  • Have not received 2 or more SAMFund grants

Medical Criteria

You Must Meet ONE

  • Completed active treatment with no evidence of disease
  • One year passed completing active treatment with stable disease, or with partial response/remission 
  • In remission and on hormonal therapy (such as Tamoxifin)
  • In molecular remission and on long term targeted therapy (such as Gleevec or Herceptin)
  • In remission and on immunotherapy

If you are actively receiving chemotherapy or radiation, you are not eligible at this time for a SAMFund grant.

Grant recipients will be notified of the outcome of their SAMFund grant application within 8-9 weeks of the closing date of the grant cycle
