East Coast Classic 2024

Celebrating a 30-Year Legacy of EMF Supporters Showing up in Support of the Cancer Community

Expect Miracles Foundation’s 30th East Coast Classic took place on June 13, 2024, at Pinehills Golf Club in Plymouth, MA. Over 250 golfers and supporters gathered to celebrate three decades of unity, generosity, and the relentless pursuit of hope for those impacted by cancer. The beautiful greens and fairways of Pinehills Golf Club provided the ideal backdrop for a day filled with competition, camaraderie, and above all, compassion.

A Legacy of Generosity

For 30 years, the financial services industry has supported EMF. At the inaugural golf tournament in 1995, 48 golfers raised $5,800 for Dana-Farber. Thirty years later, the golfers on each of the 2 courses paid tribute to the original tournament by donating over $7,500 at the mission hole— amazing! We want to give a big shout out to our 35 volunteers who helped with hosting various on-course contests, a silent auction, and taking donations.

Honoring Remarkable Achievements

After golf, attendees gathered for a reception where Founder & Chairman, Frank Strauss, reflected on EMF’s growth over 30 years. Strauss thanked supporters who have “showed up” for 30 years to help grow EMF’s grants to fight cancer from $5,800 to over $21 million.

EMF honored Ray D’Arcy and Jim Keenan with the Strauss Lifetime Achievement Award for their dedication over many decades to EMF and the cancer community. It was quite fitting to honor Ray D’Arcy and Jim Keenan with the Strauss Lifetime Achievement Award. Their unwavering dedication to EMF and the cancer community have been inspirational. We’re deeply grateful for their contributions and thrilled to have celebrated their achievements together with you.

Strauss said with sincere gratitude, “I can not thank enough all the folks I mentioned tonight, my exceptional board of directors both past and present who have been critical to our growth, as well as all of you who keep showing up in record numbers to support this event. Through market crashes, financial crises, and the pandemic, you always show up!”

Exciting Golf Performance by Dan Boever

Before the shotgun start, golfers enjoyed a captivating show by renowned golf entertainer Dan Boever. Known for his trick shots and charismatic presence, Boever thrilled the crowd with remarkable shots and interactive elements. He engaged the audience, inviting golfers to participate, and created an exciting, enjoyable atmosphere that left golfers entertained and inspired.

A Perfect Shot: Celebrating a Hole-in-One!

Tim Sheehy, from John Hancock, sank a hole in one at Hole #5 on the Jones Course, adding an extra highlight to make this day even more special. Congratulations, Tim! This was the 6th hole in one in EMF’s 30 years of golf tournaments, and just the second hole in one at the East Coast Classic.

Gratitude for You

As EMF celebrates this milestone of 30 years of the East Coast Classic, we would like to thank our sponsors, supporters, event partners, and volunteers for their continued generosity and helping us continue to make an impact in the cancer community.
