A Great Year for YPEM

YPEM Members from NYC & Boston at various events

The Expect Miracles Foundation’s young professionals group, YPEM, has had a remarkable 2017. This year welcomed many new firsts, including: the first NYC Kan Jam Tournament, the first time at a new venue for the Boston Kan Jam, the first ever spin event, and most importantly, the first time raising over $60,000. With that funding, YPEM has raised over $100,000 since its inception in 2014.

This was also the first year of the Kanley Cup competition. Each year, the Young Professionals Expect Miracles groups in Boston and New York compete to win the Kanley Cup. The city that achieves the greatest fundraising amount through its YPEM events and young professional membership in the Miracle Maker Leadership Council wins the Kanley Cup. In 2017, together, Boston and NYC raised over $60,000, but Boston raised over $32,000 – $5,000 more than NYC to take home the trophy. It was a close call for a while, but Boston was able to edge out the completion at the last minute.

“I enjoy being a member of the Foundation’s young professionals leadership team because we combine competitive fun while valuing and working together toward the same goal.” – Brianna Day, EY

While all the members of the YPEM team did an astonishing job, we had to honor three members specifically for the significant contributions they have made this year. Kate Richman of Financial Recovery Technologies, Brian Rudenauer of State Street, and Matt McKay of J.P. Morgan were presented with The YPEM Award. The YPEM Award (Young Professionals Expect Miracles) is given in recognition of a young professional whose exceptional contribution of time, resources, and energy rallies the next generation of financial executives to support the life-saving mission of Expect Miracles Foundation.

“Being a member of Expect Miracles Foundation has given me a platform to really make a difference in a person’s life and is a constant reminder to help my fellow human beings.” – Raj Kalra, Eastern Bank

Thank you to everyone who was involved with the Expect Miracles Foundation’s young professionals groups this year – YOU are the Cure! We look forward to seeing what we are able to accomplish next!
