A Message From Frank Strauss
I want to sincerely thank you for being a part of the Miracle Maker Leadership Council, whose mission is at the core of Expect Miracles Foundation’s spirit. As an entrepreneurial organization that started as a simple idea in 1995, we needed believers in order for the Foundation to grow and prosper. Now, through your generosity as part of the MMLC, we are delighted to be those believers for other cancer-fighting causes that have the passion and potential to make a difference but may lack the resources.
We feel privileged to have such a strong representation of leaders in the financial services industry join us in supporting these organizations. The Council truly demonstrates the collective power of the industry and philanthropy.
Since the inaugural funding cycle in 2012, the Miracle Maker Leadership Council’s Funding Award program has seen exponential growth. In 2012, the MMLC received a total of 7 grant applications for funding and in 2013 received over 140, demonstrating the tremendous need. Last year, the MMLC expanded its impact across the country—granting $30,000 to four geographically dispersed organizations: Breast Cancer Emergency Aid Foundation of Connecticut, the Evelyn Grace Foundation of California, and two Massachusetts-based charities, The SAMFund and Lucy's Love Bus.
We are pleased to share with you updates from these four organizations in this newsletter and how your participation has made a meaningful impact on the patients, survivors, and caregivers they serve. In addition to cancer patient care programs, your support has contributed to the development of lifesaving therapies at the Belfer Institute for Applied Cancer Science, whose recent advancements are detailed here as well.
We hope you are as inspired by your impact as we are. We are excited about what 2014 has in store and hope to see you at the upcoming Selection Summit Luncheon to select the 2014 grant recipients.
Sincerely,
Frank Strauss
