A Year in Review

A Year in Review

Dear Supporters,

As I reflect back on this past year—both the challenges and triumphs—I am struck by the resilience, integrity, and steadfast generosity of our community. Every year, I am amazed by our Expect Miracles Foundation family—our donors, sponsors, volunteers, partners, and staff—but this year in particular, I am humbled by the incredible impact you have all helped to make.

In 2021, you helped to grant over $1.4 million for cancer research, and $300,000 to support young adult cancer survivors—an incredible milestone in any year, but especially this one. Your efforts have aided the cancer community at every step of their journey, and helped us to fulfill our central mission: to create hope in the face of a diagnosis. This year, we were able to bring back some in-person events, pivoting and re-pivoting as the world changed and shifted. We adjusted as needed and were so grateful to reconnect with you all and join together again in support of the cancer community.

Though there are so many memories and important “peaks” of the year to recall and reflect upon, there are a few that stand out in my mind:

You returned to keep hope afloat at our beloved Wine & Spirits gala.

You and 1,300 other participants went the distance in support of the cancer community during our (Social) Distance Challenge.

You played for a purpose with record-setting attendance at our Annual Atlantic Coast Classic.

You rallied together for our Samfund Annual Celebration, in support of young adult cancer survivors.

And most importantly—you made a difference.

You helped pay for groceries, medical bills, and even rent to help young adult cancer survivors feel supported and seen. You helped parents spend more time with their children, and less time worrying about keeping a roof over their heads. You helped them earn degrees, get back into the workforce, and embark on new and brighter beginnings.

You advanced cancer research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center—funding cutting-edge treatments, trials, and technologies.

Together, we remained tenacious in our push for progress, and reminded the cancer community that above everything, we are in their corner.

To all of our supporters, those who have just joined us and those who have been with us for years—thank you for creating both a better today and brighter tomorrow for everyone impacted by cancer. You created hope, when it was needed most. And with hope, anything is possible.

Together, we can Expect Miracles.

Be well.

Sincerely,

Frank Heavey
